Chapter 5. Using Prebuilt Guest Images

A growing number of prebuilt DomU guest images are available for download from numerous locations. These images provide a quick way to get started running guests on Xen. In this chapter, we demonstrate how to use the three primary prebuilt DomU guest image types: disk images, partition images, and compressed file systems. We consider the relative ease and space requirements of each. Additionally, this chapter demonstrates how to use prebuilt images from non-Xen virtualization systems, such as VMware, and to convert them to be compatible with Xen.
