Abstract

Fire remains the greatest threat to people, assets, and valuable collections. Fires occur daily in cultural institutions, some more devastating than others, but almost all, according the fire protection specialists, are avoidable. This chapter discusses the common causes to fires in a variety of institutions, including arson. Some prevention methods include enforcement of policies and procedures.
