Abstract

After employee awareness, the patrol is the most valuable tool in the protection inventory. Patrols are more effective than any electronic system given the human abilities to observe, analyze, report, and correct problems or threats. This chapter looks at the most effective known means of protecting the facility, staff, visitors, and assets. “See something, say something” is emphasized. Staff are encouraged to report irregularities and management is encouraged to respond immediately to suspicious circumstances.
