Using Remote Data Services (RDS) to Connect to Business Objects

Remote Data Service (RDS) predates XML and is a technology to remote a recordset onto a client's IE browser. The problem with sending an ADO recordset across the Internet is that it is binary data that does not easily move across the Internet without using special encoding. In our WinSock example, you converted the ADO recordset into XML before you sent it across the Internet. Besides the technical problem, the idea of passing the recordset to the client violates the Windows DNA rule that a tier is to only communicate with the tier next to it.
