Q&A

Q1: Should I use a switch port for every PC?
A1: Yes, if humanly possible. Shared Ethernet is dead.
Q2: Are there errors other than collisions?
A2: Collisions cause other errors, such as CRC errors and runts (shorts). But on the whole, most errors are collision related.
Q3: Hard-setting my switch will force me to reconfigure it if things change. Isn’t there an easier way?
A3: Sure. Use the same brand of Ethernet cards as switches. You’ll be okay. Probably.
