Chapter 21. Diagnosing Problems

Today you learn how to find the cause of an error you may have encountered. You will learn the following:

  • How to use the DB2 Information Center

  • What error logging facilities are provided by DB2

  • How to use the tracing facilities to understand how to troubleshoot DB2

If an error is encountered, DB2 provides an error message, such as SQL30081, that you can look up in the Messages Reference. The Message Reference provides guidance as to what caused the error message you encountered and possible solutions to the problem. Additionally, the DB2 Web site provides tips and techniques to solve commonly reported problems.
