In this lesson you learn what the deal is with Foursquare badges—how you earn them, what they mean, and what special things they can unlock. The best thing about badges is probably the most frustrating—you don’t know when you’re going to get them or how you did it until you get them.
Badge Basics
Games have prizes, right? You achieve something and then you get some kind of reward or token to mark the occasion. Foursquare follows this pattern, and it calls those achievements badges. Some badges are silly or tongue-in-cheek—like Photobooth for checking into three places that have photo booths or Jobs for checking into an Apple Store three times.
