In this hour, we will learn about the location services available to our XNA programs from the Windows Phone’s GPS receiver. GPS stands for Global Positioning System. Originally developed by the U.S. Department of Defense, GPS is now so widely used that many people and services have come to rely on GPS for their livelihoods. WP7 has a GPS receiver, so location information is available in the hardware. However, we cannot tap into the GPS using the WP7 emulator because, well, it’s an emulator—a GPS receiver is required to pick up GPS data, so there’s no hardware workaround. ...
