Q. Can I use SharePoint 2010 in place of creating custom ASP.NET applications?

A. SharePoint 2010 is a product built using the ASP.NET Framework. It is not intended to replace ASP.NET. While SharePoint provides many features out of the box, SharePoint 2010 is good for specific scenarios such as document management, collaboration, and so on. You still need to build custom ASP.NET applications for other requirements, especially when high transactional data operations are involved.
