Chapter 9. Working with Software

After you get the operating system installed and updated, and you verify that everything is working as anticipated, you’ll want to install some applications. It may seem like a long road from clean system to completed operating setup, but if you perform it correctly, the installation should remain stable for a long time. Applications, on the other hand, represent a constant investment in time. As applications age or your computing needs change, you’ll find yourself removing the old and installing the new. As a result, application installations eventually become something you can perform in your sleep.
