It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.

What make the SVC unique here is that it can be configured with a large number of hosts, which causes interesting issues with SAN scalability. Also, because the SVC often serves so many hosts, an issue caused by poor SAN design can quickly cascade into a catastrophe. 1.1.1 Redundancy One of the most basic SVC SAN requirements is to create two ( or more) entirely separate SANs that are not connected to each other over Fibre Channel in any way.
