Parameters and Prompts
Parameters are objects that prompt users for additional information. For example, in the earlier section “Cascading Lists of Values,” you created a prompt for the user to select a country. You could have created a parameter and used that as the prompt value. The main benefit to using a parameter is that it is reusable and can be referred to either as a prompt in a list of values or in measure and dimension objects.
Prompts can be useful, but they also may be annoying if the user always wants the same values. For example, if a user always wants current year data, it can be aggravating if the object prompts the user for the year each time the user refreshes the query.
