Data Archiving: Data archiving relates to the removal of old data – not required
anymore for the day-to-day operations – from the active database(s) and storing it
in Archive files. This helps in reducing the load on the active system(s). If required,
the archived data can still be retrieved and accessed.
Data Archiving Process: The Archiving Process include (a) reading the data
to be removed and writing it to archive file(s), (b) storing the archive files in a file
system or specialized storages, and (c) reading the archive files and ‘Deleting’ the
data that have been ‘Marked for Deletion.’
