Execution Phase
Overview
After the DATA step is compiled, it is ready for execution. During
the execution phase, the data portion of the data set is created.
The data portion contains the data values.
During execution, each record in
the input raw data file is read into the input buffer, copied to
the program data vector, and then written to the new data set as an
observation. The DATA step executes once for each record in the
input file, unless otherwise directed by additional
statements.
