This book is dedicated in memory of William L. Sanders (1942–2017).

Dr. Sanders was a professor of statistics at the University of Tennessee-Knoxville, where he created the Agricultural Experiment Station Statistical Consulting unit in 1972 and served as its director until 2000. He then became Director of the Educational Value-Added Assessment System (EVAAS) at SAS Institute. Bill served as Tennessee’s representative to University Statisticians of Southern Experiment Stations (USSES), a multistate group formed in the 1960s.
