Before investigating how Fugue works as an OS, it’s worth saying more about why we approach the problem in this way. Cloud computing can be efficient without an OS over it, but it’s very hard to achieve and generally each customer must reinvent it. Because the cloud is so complex and growing in complexity all the time, it’s critical to have a single interface by which systems can be defined, updated, and operated over time—that is, a single source of truth and trust.
