The Synopsis is the virtual index card at the top of the Scrivener Inspector pane. It shows the title and optional description of the item displayed in the Editor pane.

Think of the Synopsis just like a real index card that you might use to write down scene notes or for storyboarding. The Synopsis text isn’t the actual words for your manuscript, but rather an overview or other thoughts to help you keep track of which part of your story or paper you’re working with.

This chapter can help you understand what a Synopsis is and how to add a Synopsis to your items.
