In this part, we provide an overview of JBoss Seam and its key features and benefits. A simple Hello World example illustrates how Seam ties together the database, the web UI, and the transactional business logic to form an application. We discuss the JSF enhancements Seam and Facelets provide that make JSF one of the best web application frameworks around and ideal for Seam applications. For readers who do not want to waste time setting up common Seam/Java EE configuration files, we introduce a tool called seam-gen which generates projects with Eclipse and NetBeans IDE support. It’s the best way to jump-start your Seam application.
