The word ambitious has gotten a bad reputation. When someone is called “ambitious” it can be seen as a negative. As if achievements are a bad thing.

Rather, once someone is considered “too ambitious,” the underlying message often is that the person is single-mindedly focused on achievements at the cost of other things (e.g., family, being kind, self-care, etc.). Just because someone is ambitious does not mean that they must be a jerk while chasing their goals. Quite the opposite.
