Living Your Second Life - Exploring and Socializing

I don't care to belong to any club that will have me as a member.

—Groucho Marx

What's the use of being in a world of amazing people if you don't know how to talk to them, or you're so goofy-looking that they won't talk back? It's time to get suave and get social. In Chapter 5, you discover the basics of customizing your avatar to express your personality and look your best. In Chapter 6, we show you how to jump into the conversation so you can chat and instant message in Second Life.

With all your newly learned social skills, you'll no doubt be eager to connect with some cool people, so Chapter 7 covers refining your profile to express yourself. You can also read here all the ways to find people you have something in common with, to form groups, and to find events. Of course, after you become social, you risk getting into some "sticky" situations. Never fear because reading Chapter 8 will help you avoid trouble and always feel in control.
