7SERVICES IN THE AGE OF THE INTERNET
I can well remember the day I discovered the Internet.
I had heard for some time about this mysterious entity called the World Wide Web, a network of connected computers that could apparently find anything and anyone. I plugged my computer into my phone (we pretty much all had dial-up connections in those days), tapped away diligently, following the menu commands as well as the instructions of my younger nephew who was standing at my shoulder. Finally, a screen came up and, with what would today be regarded as painful slowness, a page loaded.
It was a revelation.
