Inferencing Examples
6.1 Overview
At the heart of our approach is the notion of inference. at is, what are the strate-
gies for carrying out inferencing and how can we build a system that implements
the strategies? e basic concept of inferencing is the notion of an inference func-
tion. An inference function essentially takes data and generates new data from the
original data using the inference strategies.
To best illustrate the notion of inference, we focus on the medical domain that
