Portfolio Management

The core concept behind portfolio management is mapping needed capabilities to software systems that support those capabilities and actively managing how those capabilities are provided. The historic norm has been for companies to acquire a variety of IT systems in a haphazard manner. As a company discovered it needed a new capability; the company went out and purchased a new IT system or created a new system that could provide that capability.
