Sources of Requirements

There are going to be multiple sources for gathering system requirements. The first task of the process, once the system and scope definition are completed, is to identify the sources. With a variety of sources, each will have contributions.

One of the first places to look for requirements is the system definition, scope, and intent. Based on these, a number of either directly stated or derived requirements will be found. Another source from which we can derive requirements is from the mission statement of the organization. That combined with the system and scope will imply certain requirements that we must meet to stay consistent with the organizational mission.
