The Test Plan

No matter what approach to testing will be used, every secure software systems development effort needs a test plan. The test plan contains the details of what to test, how to test, and when to test. The test plan also includes information about the standards for how tests will be performed, what inputs to use for tests (test cases), and what to expect from the results and how to interpret those results. The plan may come in the form of a document, or the details may be in an application where the plan, execution of the plan, and the plan results are captured. The goal of the test plan is to confirm that the final software product does what was requested and planned to do and does it properly.
