Vulnerability Scanners for Linux
You can use a number of tools to perform vulnerability scans from and against Linux systems. The earliest vulnerability scanner was developed to run on Unix systems. It was called the System Administrator Tool for Auditing Networks (SATAN). Developed in 1995, it went on to spawn two other vulnerability scanners, including one commercial offering named System Administrator’s Integrated Network Tool (SAINT). In the intervening decades, a number of companies have entered the vulnerability scanning and management space. A number of good commercial vulnerability scanners are available, including Qualys and ISS.
