Appendix D. Overview of the Certification Process
Developed in consultation with IT security professionals, educators, vendors, and other industry experts, CompTIA certifications are knowledge based. They focus on a rather theoretical or academic approach to the subject matter. To obtain any CompTIA certification, you must meet the requirements of respective certification, prove your expertise by passing the respective exam, and accept an agreement.
Each direction of CompTIA's certification program is more specific to the area of practice and less specific to the product vendors.
