Time for action - creating a basic add-on

In this section of the chapter, we are going to have a look at how we can make a basic add-on. The following steps can also be used to create a normal Firefox add-on.

Firstly, you will need to create a folder on your hard drive. I have called mine Book. Everything that follows will be done within that folder.

  1. Open your favorite text editor.
  2. Create a file called install.rdf and add the following snippet. This file tells Mozilla Firefox what is needed to install this add-on.
