Abstract

Biological systems that use soft materials are operated with the intervention of activated electrical materials and become frequently used as an inspiration for soft robots. Soft robots have various benefits over traditional robots, including compatibility with wearable devices, secure interaction between machine–human beings, locomotion, and gripping. The soft actuator is an important part of a soft robot since it gives a malleable body and enables it to perceive the world to accomplish a specific actuation behavior in terms of locomotion. The soft robotics-based applications are based on various actuation methodologies such as magnetic, electric fields, and heat which becomes the basic incitement. This review article takes into consideration of various conventional actuator methodologies with the recent non-contact sensing equipment suitable for soft robots due to the low modulus factor.
