Personal selling produces a certain amount of stress. This is due in part to the nonroutine nature of sales work. Each day brings a variety of new experiences, some of which may cause stress. Prospecting, for example, can be threatening to some salespeople. Long hours on the job, the loss of leisure time, and too little time for family members can also be stressful and cause burnout if not coped with properly.28
