Due to the rather unique nature of network servers compared to standard desktop microcomputers, a wide variety of service tools are sometimes necessary to configure, troubleshoot, and maintain them. These service tools are software that is installed on the network server during the installation and configuration processes (see Chapters 2 and 3).
Network server vendors often release new versions of these tools to fix bugs, add new features, or add support for new hardware to the utilities.
