You may need to upgrade the system BIOS to support new hardware or features in the network server. You might want to upgrade the system BIOS for some of the following reasons:

  • To add support for newer hardware that didn’t exist when the original BIOS was created

  • To correct known bugs in the BIOS code

  • To add support for newer and/or faster processors

  • To add Plug and Play support

  • To add support for larger or faster hard disk drives

  • To add boot support to removable media disk drives such as LS-120 or ZIP drives (more often seen on desktop computers rather than servers)
