Monitor Web Services

Much like parenting a child, you’ll want to watch your application grow, succeed, and sometimes…fail. Otherwise, you might not realize what it’s doing until it’s too late! Application monitoring for a serverless app takes a different form than a traditional application, because it has no application server to act as a central access point of information. That doesn’t mean we’re at any disadvantage; it just means that we need to do things differently.

As a first step, we need to monitor the web services we’re using. To do that, we can use…another web service! Amazon’s CloudWatch service lets us monitor and send alerts based on statistics provided by both Amazon Web Services and any custom services we run.
