Preface

In recent years the manufacture of personal computers has been a world-wide growth

industry. Indeed, the expansion in the personal computer market is likely to continue for at

least the foreseeable future, with personal computers becoming commonplace everyday tools

to be used and enjoyed by all. Whereas it is not always possible to make clear distinctions

between the lower-cost business machines and those which are intended primarily for
