When selecting an analogue instrument take a careful look at the meter scale. This should
not be cramped and should be sufficiently large to be read at a distance. An anti-parallax
mirror scale can undoubtedly help improve the accuracy of readings obtained although this is
by no means an essential feature. Check that the range switching is logical and can easily be
accomplished with one hand. Avoid instruments with a multiplicity of input sockets. They can
be confusing and repeated swapping of leads from socket to socket can be frustrating, to say
the least.
