Fault diagnosis
In the two previous chapters we have considered the operating principles of personal
computers and the test equipment available for diagnosing faults that may arise within them.
In this chapter we shall continue by describing some typical fault diagnosis procedures which
bring together many of the principles and techniques previously introduced.
Unfortunately, personal computers are, by their very nature, somewhat diverse and hence
the procedures described must be rather more general than specific. Readers should,
however, be able to apply these techniques to those items of equipment with which they are
