To assist readers, Table 3.2 shows some typical CPU supply pin connections. In all cases,
voltages should be within 5 per cent of that stated. Where this is not the case, it will be
necessary to carry out a detailed examination of the power supply unit.
We should now have excluded the mains supply input, the d.c. power supply, and the
internal connectors from our investigation and, depending upon the outcome of the initial
checks and the resulting display on the VDU, there are three remaining options, as was shown
