The Apple Macintosh
First to exploit the potential of the Motorola Ί 6/32-bit processors was Apple with the
innovative and imaginative Macintosh. This machine represented a major departure from the
direction in which the majority of the industry was moving at that time. The Apple Macintosh
followed on from an earlier machine, the Apple Lisa. This machine was revolutionary in that it
incorporated the first mouse/window interface which was both hailed as a 'major
breakthrough' and scorned as a 'mere gimmick' by computer pundits of the time!
The Apple Macintosh first became widely available in 1984. Th
