Amiga memory map
The first 512K bytes of memory space is referred to as the 'chip memory' since any function
performed by any of the three custom chips must relate to this region of memory. The first
Amiga models only used the first 256K bytes of chip memory (addresses 000000 to 03FFFF
hexadecimal) whilst in later (and expanded) models this memory extends from 000000 to
07FFFF hex. 8M bytes of memory (from address 200000 to 9FFFFF hex.) is reserved for
external expansion. The Amiga's memory map is shown (in simplified form) in Figure 7.5.
