5.5. Conclusions

In this chapter, two approaches for the modeling of SMA alloys have been described.
One approach adopts a phenomenological description of the alloy, which assumes that the alloy is always in thermodynamic equilibrium and does not require time integration of the transformation kinetic equations. The implemented model is able to simulate the behavior of a SMA wire, including the evolution of both multivariant and single-variant martensite.
