I use a couple of learning platforms, but I'm on O'Reilly more than anybody else. When you're there, you start learning. I'm never disappointed.I'm always learning. So when I got on to O'Reilly, I was like a kid in a candy store. There are playlists. There are answers. There's on-demand training. It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.

Web Parts are clearly the technology that makes the SharePoint platform so useful and easy to operate. Whether you develop your own Web Parts or reuse existing Web Parts, you should be aware of where the Web Parts come from, how they interact with the rest of the application, and which Web Parts ship with MOSS. There is no sense in developing new functionality if it already exists!
Also, solid knowledge of what happens behind the scenes is key for administrators as well as developers. You need to know how to troubleshoot your Web Parts, how to deploy them, and, for developers, all of the different pieces and development methods.
