The good work you’ve done in finding great products and building your new Shopify store can be undone in a heartbeat through a poor logistics offering, or sloppy fulfillment.
In ecommerce, when a customer places and pays for an order in your store, the order is recorded in Shopify and you are then notified of the order so you can find the product and send it to the customer — in other words, fulfilling the order by ensuring the customer receives what they ordered. Logistics refers to the physical movement of goods that is involved when you fulfill an order, sending them from your storage space or warehouse to the customer.
The key word when it comes to fulfillment and logistics is speed. Customers who shop online expect their orders to come quickly, so it’s no longer okay to deliver in a week or two — in my experience, speeding up your delivery times, and reflecting those improved speeds on your website’s Shipping Information page, can lead to an increase in conversion rate.
