Regulations and standards

Abstract

This chapter presents standards and regulations applying to short-range wireless communication in the United States and in the European Community. U.S. FCC regulations pertaining to ISM (industrial, scientific, medical) use from Part 15, and relevant provisions from Part 74 dealing with low power auxiliary stations and Part 95, the personal radio service, are quoted and explained. The method of measuring field strength to determine transmitter power limits is described. We explain features of relevant European standards pertaining to characteristics and test methods for low power equipment in the 25 to 1000 MHz frequency range and separately, equipment operating on frequencies above 1000 MHz. ...
