Short-range Wireless Communication—Fundamentals of RF System Design and Application was first published in the year 2000. The following excerpt from its Preface is relevant to the third edition as well.
Developers, manufacturers and marketers of products incorporating short-range radio systems are experts in their fields—security, telemetry, medical care, to name a few.
