Chapter 6Spectrum Estimation

This chapter presents several different techniques for estimating the power spectral densities (PSDs) of the various signals that may be present in a simulation. A number of Spectrum analyzer models based on these techniques are also discussed. These models are meant to be used to examine the spectral content of signals in a simulation for the purpose of gaining insight into the behavior of the communication system being modeled; the models are not meant to be detailed models of actual Spectrum analyzers that are typically used in a hardware development laboratory.
