Chapter 14Multirate Simulations

This chapter is concerned with situations in which analog signals of greatly differing bandwidths are being modeled in the same simulation. Without multirate techniques, all signals must be sampled at a rate sufficient for the largest bandwidth in the system. This can lead to great amounts of wasted computation to generate samples for low bandwidth signals that are sampled at very high rates. Techniques borrowed from multirate digital-Signal processing can be used to permit different sample rates to be used for signals of different bandwidths, even if these signals must at some point be combined.
