This chapter provides an overview of the structure of this book which follows the steps needed to undertake a simulation modelling study.
Steps in a Simulation Study
The main steps in undertaking a simulation modelling study with the chapter numbers indicated are shown in figure 2.1. We can consider modelling as the abstraction of a real-world system and simulation as experimentation with that model to obtain knowledge about that system. This means modelling is covered in the material in chapters 1–8, and simulation is covered in the material in chapters 9 and 10.
