Introduction

The conceptual modelling process involves deciding what is relevant and should be included in the model to meet the aims of the current investigation. Robinson (2008) defines a conceptual model as ‘a non-software specific description of the computer simulation model (that will be, is or has been developed), describing the objectives, inputs, outputs, content, assumptions and simplifications of the model’.
