The system shown below consists of two tanks arranged in a series configuration (Figure 5.153).

The constant flowrate F1 is regulated by a control valve which is in the wide open position over the time interval t0 ≤ t ≤ t1 and closed at all other times. A constant flow of magnitude “A” occurs when the valve is in the open position. Hence,
