The Power of Graphics: Eat the Low-hanging Fruit
The power of graphical tools is often underestimated by professionals. The biggest benefit of these tools is easy and effective communication with team members, sponsors and other stakeholders. The Six Sigma black and green belts are expected to support the graphical tools with statistical analysis. But the analysis lacks the visual appeal which is important for effective communication. I strongly encourage Six Sigma and other professionals to use graphical tools wherever they can. I know of many cases where the belts have managed to find the solution by merely using graphical analysis. In such cases, the more complicated analytical tools remain only a formality.
